DIY Construction Costumes

So, fast-forward to early September. My little H noticed some Halloween costumes in Target and asked what he would be for Halloween. I told him it was up to him. Shockingly (no, not at all shockingly), he asked if he could be an excavator. I told him I didn't think I could make that, to which he replied "Why? You made a bulldozer. An excavator can't be that much harder." Touche, kiddo! I knew I could do it.
With the 4th of July just around the corner, if you're on the lookout for some fun patriotic foods that your kids will love, you're in luck. And, better yet, your kids will want to help you make these tasty treats! From pretzels to punch, these red, white, and blue recipes will have your kids starry-eyed and ready for the fireworks to start!
In order to feel the love on Mother’s Day, I think we need to lower our expectations a bit. If your grand plan (or even not so extravagant plan) isn’t fully met, it can be disappointing or feel as if the day is “just any other day.”

Tidings of joy for 2018

Finding joy is about understanding that there is always a silver lining, even when we cannot see one.
On Saturday, December 2nd we had a jolly afternoon at the YWCA Greater Green Bay visitng with Santa and participating in crafts and games! And, we can't forget the delicious cookies, hot chocolate, and coffee. The afternoon would not have been possible without our wonderful community partners.
It’s easy to get caught up in the magic of the holidays. Everywhere you look you can see bright, twinkling lights on homes, magical displays in storefronts, gorgeous decorations on trees, and so many delicious and festive foods to...
We should do more than a homemade ornament for their teacher. Hmm if I was a teacher I would want… wine. All the wine. But perhaps that’s an inappropriate gift from a 4-year-old. What would the other mom’s think? What about cookies? Ugh. They probably get so many cookies.
Most stores are already letting us know the holidays are approaching as we walk in their doors. It really is one of the most wonderful times of the year, but let’s face it - as parents, we don’t want that to include our children and homes being inundated with toys, toys, and more toys! A few, okay, but the focus of the holidays should be about so much more! Although since gift giving is a tradition for many, here are a few MORE non-toy gift ideas, with a focus on practical gifts and experiences instead.
What's that sound? Oh, banging your head against the wall while thinking of creative and useful holiday gifts for the kids in your life? Yes, I've been there, too. Do you shudder at the thought of receiving more toys that only get played with a handful of times before they get tossed aside? And, let's not forget all of the cardboard that comes with those toys. ALL.OF.THE.CARDBOARD. Last year, it took a solid month before our garage was rid of it.
Green Bay Area Moms Blog is thrilled to be partnering with the YWCA Greater Green Bay to bring you our 1st Annual Cookies with Santa!
