My kids HATE brushing their teeth – it’s a literal fight twice a day. Well, it was a fight… now it’s not! This is how I got my kids to beg to brush their teeth!
We recently downloaded a game called “Pokémon Smile”. It’s very similar to Pokémon Go, but with this one, the kiddo (or adult!) starts the game (using the camera on the device) when they start brushing. It sets a backwards timer for 2 minutes on the screen and gives feedback on areas you may be missing based on where you brush on-screen. At the end of the 2 minutes, the player can catch a Pokémon for their collection!
It also takes pictures during the game and they can decorate them with virtual stickers that they earn for good brushing. (Here’s a photo of my 8-year-old during one of her recent games. I’m serious when I say my kids beg to brush their teeth!)
We have 2 children, so one uses my phone, and the other uses her own device… this way they can track their progress separately. This game is available for free on both Android and Apple devices.
