Favorite Things 2018

Green Bay Area Moms Blog is passionate about all things LOCAL. On November 12 members of our writing team gathered for a night of good company while we learned about products produced right here in Northeast Wisconsin. As the holiday shopping season is about to swing into action, we hope you will support these local businesses.  Without further ado, here are our favorite items for 2018!

2018 Favorite Things

The Oilerie Mercato

The best little neighborhood Italian market in America.

Why it’s a fave: Because quality olive oil makes a difference! It took one trip to Italy for GBAMB’s owner to break her habit of buying the cheapest olive oil on the shelf. If you want the good stuff, head to The Oilerie!

The Oilerie Mercato treated us to a bottle of Garlic EVOO, a bottle of 25 year Balsamic, an Italian Christmas cake, a jar of pasta sauce, a bag of pasta springs, imported grated cheese, bruschetta topping and a tin of bread dipping spice. Yes, we were spoiled!

rebecca lane

Rebecca Lane Candle Co.

It all started with Kristin’s (the owner) love of soy candles, and creating her own from natural ingredients to use in her home. That passion led to the opening of Rebecca Lane Candle Co in May 2018. The soy wax is from American grown soybeans and she does her best to use cotton wicks, wood wicks, fragrance oils, and essential oils that are also American made. The assortment also includes lip balms, room sprays, and air fresheners. You can find Rebecca Lane Candle Co. via its Etsy shop as well as at many local craft and vendor shows around the Fox Valley.

Why it’s a fave: The wax melts fill our homes with the most amazing aromas. We love taking deep breaths when Rebecca Lane Candle Co.’s wax melts are in the warmer.

Rebecca Lane Candle Co. gifted GBAMB writers Love Potion #9 soy wax melts.

Ruth
Ruth was born in Green Bay and lived in the area until venturing off to UW Madison for college.  Her education led her to a life in retail.  Retail took her to Milwaukee, Charlotte, NC, and, eventually, back to Green Bay.  In 2014 she decided to pause her career to help her husband build his CPA firm.  Ruth & Chris reside in De Pere with their four children, Smith, Tess, Burke, & Jack.  As great as Green Bay summers are, Fall is Ruth’s favorite.  She loves the colors, crisp air, and, of course, football.  Ruth enjoys hanging out with the fam, reading up on the latest fashion, & savoring a nice glass of cabernet.
