Support for Parents/Caregivers

No one is born an expert in childcare – not even parents! Family & Childcare Resources of N.E.W. (FCRNEW) provides free classes, resources, and support for a child’s first and most important teacher: their parents. The agency focuses on the strengths that each parent already has and works to find personalized solutions that work with each unique family. Children don’t come with handbooks, but FCRNEW can give you the guidance you need!

Positive Parenting Program (Triple P)

Wanting to improve your parenting skills or learn tips to better handle the day-to-day struggles with your children does NOT mean you are a “bad” parent – in fact, it’s the opposite! Parenting classes are something ALL parents and caregivers can benefit from – which means the children, of course, benefit too!

Family & Childcare Resources offers a FREE Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) that can help you gain confidence and have more stress-free days with your kids. The Parent Educators at FCRNEW offer parenting seminars, workshops, discussion groups, and support groups. Some of the specialized workshops and discussion groups focus on more specific parenting issues, including establishing good bedtime routines, managing fighting & aggression, helping your children build their self-esteem, how to balance work & family, and many more.

Parents as Teachers Program (PAT):

For parents/caregivers who want more individualized, hands-on support, the Parents as Teachers (PAT) Program is the way to go. This evidence-based program involves a Parent Educator providing in-home visits to better assist families with child development and offer education on parenting, communications, behavior, and community support systems. The trained professionals will give you the tools you need to be a more confident and successful parent! FCRNEW is proud to have retained the highest designation in the Parents as Teachers Program: Blue Ribbon Affiliate status.

Support for Childcare Professionals

Did you know that 70% of Wisconsin children spend time in care outside the home? Early childhood professionals have the opportunity to make a big impact on setting a strong developmental course for our children! Because of the important role they play in families’ lives, Family & Childcare Resources helps support childcare providers with pre-licensing, continuing education, YoungStar consultation, resources, and other assistance. If someone would like to start their own childcare business, the Technical Consultants at FCRNEW can provide guidance and support with this, as well. By providing these services to more than 200 childcare programs in Northeast WI, FCRNEW hopes to help make sure children in our community have the best chance at being safe, happy, and healthy.

Fly a Kite Fest Fundraiser

In order to continue to assist families and childcare programs in Northeast WI, FCRNEW holds fundraisers in the community. The main fundraising event for this nonprofit agency is Fly a Kite Fest, which will be celebrating its 8th year on Saturday, June 26th. This FREE event is fun for the whole family! Professional kite flyers come from across the country to put on amazing kite shows, including stunt kite performances and giant kite displays (some as big as a bus!). There will be an abundance of kids’ activities, including kite decorating, arts & crafts, games, prizes, and more! Plus, there will be plenty of fun photo-ops with the princesses, mascots, fire trucks, photo booth with props, and of course, the colorful kites! If you’re hungry, there will be plenty of yummy food at the concession stand, including brats, hamburgers, corn on the cob, and snow cones. There will also be a raffle game with amazing items available to win, such as Green Bay Packers merchandise, restaurant gift cards, kids’ items, and much more. And don’t forget to bring your lawn chairs and blankets to sit back and enjoy the kite shows!

In order to make this event a success, the agency needs approximately 175 community volunteers. There are many different volunteer positions available at Kite Fest, including working in the concession stand, helping with parking, and assisting children in the kids’ activity tents. Volunteers who work a 3+ hour shift will receive a Kite Fest t-shirt, and those who work a 4+ hour shift will also receive a free lunch. Get some friends together and help out for a great cause!
