Go, See, Explore: Lakeside Park – Fond du Lac

Lakeside Park, Fond du Lac, WI(Fond du Lac): Last summer, my family and I were driving home from our vacation when we decided to make a stop at Lakeside Park for a picnic and to help break up the long drive home. I had heard the views of Lake Winnebago at Lakeside Park were beautiful but what I didn’t know is what an amazing park it is for children!

The park is very large and it has just about anything you can think of that makes a park exciting. There is a beautiful water fountain, plenty of space to relax and picnic, a sand volleyball court, beautiful bridges and paths for strolling, a petting zoo, canoe/kayak/pedal boat rentals, three rides (miniature train, merry-go-round, and whip), splash pad, multiple playgrounds, and occasionally, an ice cream vendor. There are also numerous shelters to rent and boat launches. This park can easily entertain a family for a day.

Lakeside Park, Fond du Lac, WI Splash PadI love that there are public restrooms right next to the splash pad, which made it easy to get the girls in and out of their swimsuits. On the day of our visit, I loved that after all the fun of rides, playground, and splash pad, we ate ice cream right next to Lake Winnebago – it was such a beautiful way to end our family vacation.

So pack a bag and head down to Fond Du Lac for a fun-filled day adventure. You won’t be disappointed and your children will be thrilled with all the activity!
